Deciding to buy may be one of the most important decisions one will ever make.  The process of buying a home has been described as "exciting," "humbling," "stressful," "empowering," "overwhelming," and "fantastic."

NHS has a process to help you tap into the good feelings and minimize the stress of buying your home.

Our simple 3 step process is designed to put you in the drivers seat, get you the best deal, and buy so that you can build real assets for yourself and your family.

Step 1 - Attend a the NHS Realizing the Dream - Worshop  This series is designed to provide first-time homebuyers with the knowledge to shop right for their price, access government-sponsored financial support programs, get the right mortgage product and avoid foreclosure.  This is recommended for all first-time homebuyers and suggested for re-entry buyers.  Click here for registration information.

Step 2 -  Find the right loan and get pre-approved There are hundreds of loan programs and thousands of lenders looking for your business.  How do you know which one is right for you?  NHS has established relationships with some of the largest lenders in the country.  Our nationally certified counselors can help you you avoid falling into the hands of a predatory lender and help you find a loan that is best for you.  Meet with your NHS certified counselor to 1) find out which affordable housing programs you qualify for; 2) identify a credible lender that will work with you; and 3) get you ready to shop.

Step 3 - Go Shopping  Once you have obtained your pre-approval, NHS will match you with a pre-screened local real estate professional.  Our Broker-of-Record is a volunteer on the NHS Board of Directors and provides NHS-qualified buyers with personal support and representation at no cost to you. In addition, NHS has pre-screened a small group of participating Realtors to help you get the most for your money and understand the unique needs of buyers in our region.  You don't have to take a chance with an unknown or amatuer.  Obtain your personal referral from your NHS counselor.
