Financial Education Program

As a chartered member of the national NeighborWorks® network, Neighborhood Housing Services offers personal finance courses that teach residents better money management skills that can help put them on the path to decreasing debt and increasing resources – including long-term homeownership.  While creating more financially fit consumers year-round, Financial Education can also help families become more aware of common pitfalls, including consumer scams and predatory lending practices, and how to avoid them.

  • Money Smart

Money-management skills are critical to breaking the cycle of poverty.  Financial literacy is the logical first step to helping families become independent and obtain their financial goals. Without access to quality information and guidance, many families can miss opportunities to maximize wealth building opportunities or worse, fall into traps that eventually lead to financial ruin.

Financial Education is a critical need for consumers and for our community. Being financially fit is the key to building wealth — regardless of income.  Financial Education is essential to promoting stronger and more stable neighborhoods in our area.

Classes meet Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Fee: $45  ($20 for existing Homebuyer Club members) material covers the three-week course, handouts, a complimentary credit report and one-on-one meeting to review credit and establish a family budget.
